Loosely based on the traditional card game 'Rummy', players try to collect a set of five of the same fruits. The game consists of 42 fruit cards, 2 wild cards and a spinner. All the cards are placed face down in the 'pool' on the table, and players pick 5 to make up their hand. Players take it in turns to spin the spinner, which determines whether they pick up a face down card from the pool, or whether they pick up one of the face up discarded cards. It could also stop on 'fruit frenzy' , at which point everybody discards one of their hand into the small pool and immediately picks up a different card to replace it. The winner is the first person to collect 5 of the same fruit in their hand. If they pick up a wild card, they can use it as whichever fruit they choose. If playing with younger children, they can aim for just three or four of the same fruit to win. The friendly fruits are illustrated in bright, cheerful colours, and will appeal to children aged 4 and over. It is suitable for 2 to 4 players, and will help children with their PSHE and science skills. You will find several other ways of adding to the play value of the game, such as using the cards to play 'Pairs' or 'Snap'. The game is made from very sturdy, thick recycled card.
